Satire Improv: Off-the-Cuff Outrage
Writing the Satire
Improvs satires freestyle – outrage on the fly. Target a prompt: “Rains here – Im a fish now.” Hit the snap – quick, wild: “Boss says go – I nap.” Keep it loose – tight flops. Write: “Scene says yes – Im no.” Whose Lines riffs inspire. Start yours: “Dog barks – Im mayor.” Practice turns now into nuts.
Teaching the Technique
Teach improv jabs with a snap twist. Give “late call” – twist: “Late so bad, I rule!” Show Whose Line clips – quick, zing. Steps: prompt, quirk, jab. Assign “shop now” – spark: “Shop so fast, Im broke!” Discuss zip: loose wins. Warn off slow – fast rules. Improv-off: pitch a snap, best nut wins. Improvs a rush – teach them to rush it.
