Scoreboard Spoofs: Sports Satire
Writing the Satire
Sports are satires game – spoof the score. Target a jock: “He ran fast – lapped tomorrow.” Hit the hype – stats, fans: “Team lost big – spirit champs!” Keep it fun – grim flops. Write: “Coach says hustle – he naps.” ESPNs spoofs inspire. Start yours: “Game ties – ref sleeps.” Practice turns plays into playtime.
Teaching the Technique
Teach sports jabs with a play twist. Give “game lost” – twist: “Lost so well, I won!” Show ESPN clips – hype, zing. Steps: play, quirk, jab. Assign “fan cheer” – spark: “Cheer so loud, I deaf!” Discuss fun: light wins. Warn off dark – spoof rules. Score-off: pitch a spoof, best play wins. Sports are games – teach them to game it.
